Save Culver Median Park

Proposed changes to the Culver Blvd corridor between Sepulveda and Elenda.

The Culver City staff and engineering consultants are trying to address a number of concerns with the Culver Blvd. corridor between Sepulveda and Elenda.  The Primary focus is to increase safety for parking on the South side of the street, which is pretty awful.  But the changes as proposed will wipe out most or all of the old-growth trees along the bike path on the North side, and greatly reduce the size of the land reserved for public use and green space.

Hopefully both sides of the corridor can come together to find a better way forward but in the meantime the North side residents and most of the adjoining community stand firmly in opposition to moving forward with construction.  Please consider signing our petition to Save Culver Median Park.

And like the Facebook page to find out more details and to stay abreast of developments.

Incognito #1, Circus

"Major Separation Anxiety From Owner." Please don't fret dear owner, Gemini has run off to a life performing in the circus, where she spends her days making small children scream with laughter and applause.

99-Dollar Only Gallery

The new series that I’m creating for the show is called, “Incognito.”

Everyone knows Lost-Pet-Posters, the sad pictures left in public spaces by people desperate to find their missing friends.  But are their pets truly missing?  What if they have reinvented themselves and found a new life elsewhere… did they run off to join the circus, are they seeking fortune at Vegas’ tables, or maybe kitty is dancing at a “gentlemen’s club?”

– Found imagery collage and original renderings in paint, ink, and pastel by MoDMaN.

Hardwood ply makes a good canvas yo...

For info and tickets go to 99-dollar gallery on tumblr.

Ace Hotel NYC

Swank, sexy, dark, hipster haven. The Ace feels like home. Turntable and LPs in the room. Massive French doors open on to the bath and nice work and lounge space. Plus blackout curtains make for a perfect sprite cave. JOY

Rat Pack Xmas Tour - NYC

It's so swank it makes my teeth numb. Empire State in the bedroom, Chrysler Bldg in the living room, and the statue of liberty in the dining room. Elvis on the stereo.

Sol Giveth, the good and the ironic

Today there is one more solar household in the C-squared, and WE’RE IT!

The system is ready to start powering the house and pumping power back into the grid as soon as the city inspector and Cali-Edison give us the thumbs-up. The panels are shiny blue-black tech and we’ve found a way (which means V found a way) to purchase the power for 20-years at about 14-cents a kwh year-in-and-year-out without change.

We don’t own the panels but they come with full maintenance, real-time monitoring, and the deal transfers if we sell, “hi new home buyer, would you like a house with free-energy?”

And at the end of each year if we put more in than we take out, WE get a check.

Sa-weeeet!

It’s ironic that on the same day we had a check-up with the dermatologist and she zapped some precancerous sun-spots. Did I mention we have SOLAR?!!!

LUCENT DOSSIER vs. HERAKUT

, originally uploaded by modman60.
A stunning stage performance by Lucent Dossier and the street art duo known as Herakut. As the Lucent MC said, "It was wonderful of the owners of the Palace Theater to allow a bunch of freaks like us to come in and tear the place up."

from the Lucent Dossier website
Herakut was the team that put up the beautiful street art on the abandoned building under the new train station for Culver City. I took some photos of that during the Culver Art Walk here.

Sit-ins, marches, snow, sleet, you name it the people up there care about the public servants that teach their kids, fight their fires, and sweep their streets.

I dig the way these things look when they've been sent through the mail. Postmarked, stamped, handled, spindled, and sometimes bent. Gets 'em all punkrocky. The cards are inked by hand on 110 pound acid free paperstock at 4" x 6".

Send me your digits (name, address, and zip) to: info at modmanink dot com - and I'll pop it in the mail directly.
